A beautifully proportioned set of six dining chairs manufactured by Casala in Germany. Executed in solid beech with molded beech plywood seats and backs, the chairs display the restrained functionalism for which Casala became internationally known during the post-war period. Their sculptural rear uprights, flowing arm supports and architectural A-frame bases are characteristic of the work attributed to German designer Karl Nothelfer, whose designs for Casala furnished countless universities, public buildings and modern interiors throughout the late 1960s and 1970s. Warmly patinated and exceptionally well crafted, they combine institutional durability with elegant Mid-Century Modern design. The warm honey-toned beech has developed a beautiful natural patina over time, enhancing the character of the wood while highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship. Their understated silhouette allows them to complement both modern and traditional interiors, making them equally suited for use as dining chairs, conference seating, or statement accent pieces.
