A striking pair of Flexion table lamps designed by Cees Kranen for Indoor in the Netherlands, dating from the 1980s. With their elongated tubular form, sculptural blue bases, and distinctive curved stems, these lamps are an exceptional expression of Dutch postmodern design. The warm linear light source creates a dramatic vertical element, while the elegant bend of the dark metal stem gives the design a sense of movement and tension. The lamps are particularly appealing for their unusual combination of graphic geometry and playful color. Their vivid blue bases contrast beautifully with the warm glow of the illuminated tubes, giving them a strong architectural presence even when switched off.
Although designed to stand as table lamps, the construction also allows them to be mounted on a wall, creating an even more dramatic sculptural installation. In a wall-mounted configuration, the lamps project substantially from the wall, making them particularly effective as statement pieces in a contemporary interior.
The pair is in very good vintage condition, with the character and patina appropriate to their age. The lamps are having a 13W fluorescent tube that can be converted to LED. A wonderful opportunity to acquire a matching pair of Cees Kranen’s distinctive Flexion lamps—equally suited to a refined residential interior, design collection, or commercial setting.
