A luminous composition of glass and light, this rare Raak Chartres wall lamp exemplifies the Dutch manufacturer’s celebrated exploration of sculptural lighting in the 1960s. Inspired by the stained-glass windows of the Chartres cathedral in France, the design transforms thick, hand-textured glass into an expressive canvas of color and radiance.
The wall lamp is handcrafted by Willem van Oyen for Raak. The fixture’s glass elements — in translucent shades of aqua blue, golden amber, and punctuated with vibrant red — are arranged in layered relief, creating a jewel-like surface that glows warmly when illuminated. The interplay of light through the irregular fragments gives the piece a painterly depth, bridging the line between functional object and luminous artwork.
Both sculptural and atmospheric, this wall light captures Raak’s ambition to elevate everyday interiors with designs that feel as much at home in a gallery as they do in a residence. A true statement piece.
